Real wants for more road success at Philadelphia
Soccer Betting Lines
08/10/2010 - Chester, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Real Salt Lake has just one loss in its last 14 matches and the defending Major League Soccer Cup champions could overtake the Los Angeles Galaxy in the Western Conference with two wins this week.
L.A. seized control of first place by opening the season on a 12-game unbeaten run, but Real can climb within two points Wednesday night at PPL Park against the expansion Philadelphia Union.
Real finishes its two-match week at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday against the Columbus Crew, who lead the Eastern Conference. L.A. visits Red Bull New York on Saturday.
RSL (10-4-5) beat Philadelphia, 3-0, in the teams' first meeting and is coming off its fifth road result of the year. Robbie Findley, called up to the United States for Tuesday's friendly against Brazil, scored the tying goal in a 1-1 draw against the Kansas City Wizards last weekend.
"That's what we wanted to do, at least get a draw, if not the win, and we were able to do that. It wasn't pretty, we knew it was going to be a tough game, and we got the job done," Findley said.
Real midfielder Kyle Beckerman felt it showed the team's maturity to settle in with the score tied at 1-1 and hold onto a point on the road.
"The road team always has a good feeling if they get a result on the road, so we definitely went out to win the game, but we wanted to be mature enough that if we got to a certain time in the game, we needed to be mature enough to say 'Let's take this point and get out of here.'" Beckerman said.
"I thought we showed some maturity ... by doing that."
Philadelphia (4-10-3) has earned 11 of its 15 points at home, playing games at Lincoln Financial Field early in the season, but is only kept off the bottom of the Eastern Conference by three-win D.C. United.
The Union have just two wins in their last 10, and have allowed five combined goals in their last two matches. Philadelphia led its last game against FC Dallas but lost, 3-1, after a red card to Brad Knighton left the team short- handed.
Coach Peter Nowak continues to search for the right mix and, with eight of team's last 13 games at home, the Union could make up ground with second-place Red Bull New York only 13 points away.
"We've just got to continue to work," Philadelphia's Alejandro Moreno, who had the lone goal against FC Dallas, said on the team's website. "We get an opportunity on Wednesday in front of our fans to try to get a positive result and hopefully we can get this thing moving forward and in the right direction.
"It's another opportunity for us to continue to grow as a team, but our growth is dependent on our work and our sacrifice and our commitment as a team and hopefully we can do that on Wednesday."

Matt Kenseth And Kevin Harvick Favorites To Take NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship
(September 15)—The NASCAR season has hit the homestretch with the opening event on this year’s Chase for the Cup taking place this weekend at the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. With 10 races remaining to determine the Cup Series champion, leading online sportsbook MySportsbook.com today announced odds on all 10 Chase qualifying drivers capturing the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.
One of the largest sportsbook sites on the Internet, MySportsbook.com currently lists the top two drivers in the point standings as the early favorites to win the Nextel Cup. Entering the Chase for the Cup with a slim five-point lead in the point standings, 2003 NASCAR champ Matt Kenseth has been made a slight favorite to win his second Cup at 7/2 betting odds. 2001 Cup Rookie of the Year Kevin Harvick has betting odds listed at 5/2 and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon is listed at 6/1 to capture the Nextel Cup this year.
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of his legendary father who won six NASCAR titles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 8/1 to breakthrough with his first Cup victory. Staying with the family theme, MySportsbook.com lists 2005 Rookie of the Year Kyle Busch at 14/1 to succeed big brother Kurt’s 2004 NASCAR title. While Kasey Kahne was the final driver to qualify for the Chase with a third place finish last week, the oddsmakers give him a fighting chance at 10/1 mainly due to several mile-and-a-half tracks remaining on the schedule. Despite going winless on the NASCAR circuit this season, Jeff Burton enters the Chase at 5/1 to capture the Cup title. Meanwhile, rookie Denny Hamlin is 4/1 to win the championship, while veteran driver Mark Martin enters the Chase for the Cup as a 15/1 long shot to win his first NASCAR title in his 24th and final season.
MySportsbook.com will offer comprehensive Nascar betting lines on every race remaining on the Nextel Cup series including driver match-ups, props and odds to win each race. For a complete list of NASCAR odds, please visit www.MySportsbook.com.
